Postdoctoral position in biocatalysis – 18 months

A postdoc position (40 h/week) is available in the group of Mélanie Hall, located at the
Institute of Chemistry at the University of Graz, Austria. The position is planned for 18
months with ideal start by June 2021. Funded by the Austrian Science Fund, it is a 100%
research position.

The project deals with the development of a biocatalytic platform based on a novel
enzymatic activity that tackles chemically stable molecules. This multidisciplinary project
will combine aspects and techniques of genomics, transcriptomics, molecular biology,
biocatalysis and organic chemistry. Focus will be directed primarily at a flavin-dependent
enzyme.

Candidates should hold a PhD in biocatalysis, chemistry, molecular biology,
biotechnology or a related discipline, and must be proficient in English (writing and oral).
The ideal candidate demonstrates hands-on experience with standard cloning
techniques and protein expression and purification. A documented experience in
biocatalysis is expected.
